We are so excited that our preschoolers will be learning in December that God gave us Jesus! All month long, we are going to unpack the Christmas story for our preschoolers and teach them that God gave us Jesus! We thought this was an amazing opportunity to talk to our kids about giving to others. We can help others just like God helped us. We want to make a connection between how God gave us a gift to help us and how He wants us to give to others to help them.
We decided to focus on a physical need to which all young children can relate. You see, every child has been cold. And, most children have had the experience of putting on a nice, warm coat and getting toasty warm again. We thought that this would be an easy connection for young children and that they could feel empathy for another child who might not have a coat to keep them warm.
Our hope is that we can look back and celebrate with our preschoolers that we helped many kids who needed a warm coat this winter. And, that this would be just the first of many opportunities that our kids will have to experience the incredible gift of giving to others.
As you head into the Christmas season, really let it sink in that God gave us Jesus! Just think about what that means to us today, hundreds of years later. There is no greater gift!
